Funeral services for Saul Hochberg, pioneer in Jewish newspaper publishing in Czarist Russia, who died here at the age of 72, were held today. Hochberg was the editor and publisher of the Jewish daily newspaper “Unzer Leben” which he established in Warsaw in 1907 and which was later transferred to Odessa. It was the only Jewish newspaper in Russia during the last World War. He also served as Warsaw correspondent of the Havas news agency prior to his moving to Odessa. After the Soviet revolution, he left Russia for Rumania where he resided for many years until he emigrated to Palestine.
