3,500 B’nai B’rith and Aza Members Donate Their Blood to Red Cross

Nearly 3,500 members of B’nai B’rith lodges and auxiliaries and AZA chapters throughout the country have donated blood to the Red Cross blood banks and 13,400 others are registered as blood donors and will give blood when called upon, the B’nai B’rith national headquarters reported today.

The actual total of B’nai B’rith blood donors was 2,338 on April 15 while the AZA, B’nai B’rith youth organization, reported 1,100 of its members had given blood. There are 7,400 AZA boys registered as blood donors and 6,000 B’nai B’rith men and women awaiting calls from Red Cross blood banks. In New York, B’nai B’rith broke all records for mass blood donations. The biggest day experienced by the Red Cross donor section in New York was when 325 members of B’nai B’rith gave blood in a single day.
