All tombstones in the Jewish cemetery in Vishnitza, Bukovina, have been uprooted and used to build barracks for a ghetto where all the Jews of Vishmitza and the adjacent townships will be held, it was reported here today. The ghetto will be established on the cemetery grounds.
Budapest newspapers reaching here today carry a statement by Archduke Albrecht of Hapsburg criticising as “mild” the bill recently passed in the Hungarian parliament providing for the expropriation of Jewish-owned agricultural holdings. Discussing the bill, which places 1,300,000 hectares of Jewish-owned farm-land at the disposal of the von Kallay Government, the Archduke demands more “far-reaching restrictions” on Jews.
