Nationals of Hungary, Rumania and Bulgaria, who have become “enemy aliens” as a result of the United States’ declaration of war against those countries, will not be subject to all the restrictions affecting aliens of German, Italian or Japanese nationality, it was pointed out here today by the Department of Justice.
Although they may be arrested and interned for the duration of the war if they are believed to be dangerous to the welfare of the United States, they do not, for example, have to obtain permission to travel, do not have to surrender short-wave radios, cameras and firearms, and are not required to obtain certificates of identification.
