Employment of Negroes, Jews and persons of foreign origin in New York State’s war industries has greatly increased since war was declared, but the problem of discrimination is far from solved, Industrial Commissioner Frieda S. Miller said today. Miss Miller is chairman of the Committee on Discrimination in Employment of the State War Council and as Industrial Commissioner has legal power to prosecute employers guilty of discrimination. “We are following up our field and are prepared to take legal action against recalcitrant employers,” she said.
