Ten percent of the graduates of the Jewish Institute of Religion are on leave of absence from their congregations, serving as chaplains in the Navy, Rabbi Stephen S. Wise announced last night at the exercises inaugurating the 12st academic year of the Institute. Right Rev. Francis J. McConnell, Resident Bishop of the Methodist Church, delivered an address on “Some Jewish Contributions to Democracy.”
