Wearing the yellow Star of David, non-Jewish students in Vichy today demonstrated against the continued deportation of Jews from unoccupied France and demanded that the French Government reject Germany’s request for more severe anti-Jewish measures.

Meanwhile, the deportation of Jews from the occupied and unoccupied parts of France was reported today to be increasing both in tempo and in scale. The search for Jews throughout France has been extended even to farms, hamlets and woods where many victims are being given shelter by French peasants. Refugees from France arriving here report that conditions for alien Jews are becoming more and more unbearable. They predict that by the winter not a single alien Jew will remain in France.

The Swiss committee which is raising funds to aid the Jewish refugees from France who succeeded in reaching Switzerland, today reported that the Swiss population is “responding splendidly to the relief campaign.”
