The Polish Cabinet, under the chairmanship of vice-Premier Stanislaw Mikolajezyk, held a special session last night to discuss further steps with regard to mobilizing the governments of the United Nations for action to halt the Nazi massacres of Jews and Poles in occupied Poland.
The Nazi slaughter of the Jewish population in occupied territories was discussed also last night at a meeting of the executive committee of the International Federation of Trade Unions. It was decided to issue a public statement expressing “revulsion at the slaughter of defenseless Jews” and demanding “implacable punishment.”
Foreign Minister Eden will be asked in Commons whether the British Government would approach the Vatican, the Swedish Government and other non-belligerent powers with a view to making representations to the German Government regarding the treatment of the Jews in Poland and other occupied lands, it was learned here today. Mr. Eden will also be asked whether the Government would consider proposing to the Swedish Government that Jews from Nazi-held territories be temporarily admitted to Sweden under appropriate guarantees, including the despatch by the United Nations of supplies for the refugees.
