Pope Asked to Attempt to Rescue Jews of Europe

The Agudas Israel organization has appealed to the Pope to intervene for the Jews in Nazi-dominated countries, it was revealed here today. Speaking on behalf of religious Jewry, the Agudah urged the Pope to try to save as many of the doomed Jews as possible.

A resolution urging the Jews of America and Palestine to close ranks for united action to aid their brethren in Europe was adopted today at the annual meeting of the Agudas Israel. H.A. Goodman revealed that Polish Minister of Social Welfare, Jan Stanczyk, who is leaving for Palestine and the Middle East, assured him that he will do everything possible to aid the several hundred Jewish children in Teheran who possess Palestine visas but who have been refused permission to cross Iraq. Goodman addressed the political session of the conference.
