Either England, America or Russia must take the initiative in issuing, without delay, a declaration that it is determined to take active measures to save the Jews in Nazi territory, the Manchester Guardian demands today in an editorial dealing with various proposed plans to rescue the Jews from Nazi extermination.

“That honor,” the paper writes, “should actually be ours, but if we in England remain indifferent, then let it be anyone’s. Whoever will lead, we should follow.” The article then goes on to point out that Britain could facilitate the rescue of the Jews in Europe since at present it the power holding the key to Palestine. The Guardian suggests that Palestine be opened for immigration of Jews if Britain wants to have a clear conscience in the future.
