Polish Jews forced to work as artisans in German war industries are not producing the full quota expected of them the Nazi radio stations reported today, quoting an article in the Schwartze Korps, organ of the Gestapo.
At the same time Deputy Premier Stanislaw Mikolajzcyk, reporting that the Germans have cleared all Poles from a sixty-mile corridor in Silesia in order to construct defenses against a possible Russian advance, revealed that the first work on the Nazi “East Wall” in Silesia had been done by battalions of Jews who were executed as each battalion completed its work.
The question of removing Polish Jews from neutral countries which are still in danger of invasion by the Nazi armies was discussed today by Count Raczynski, Polish Foreign Minister, and Samuel Zygelboim, one of the Jewish members of the Polish National Council. This question was raised by leaders of Polish Jewry in London as a result of the fact that many Polish Jews were trapped in the part of France formerly administered by Vichy and now face deportation to Poland.
