The house of Representatives today adopted the resolution passed by the Senate on March 9, condemning the Nazi “mass-murder of Jewish men, women and children” and asking that those guilty, directly or indirectly, of these criminal acts should be punished “in a manner commensurate with the offenses for which they are responsible.”
The resolution was originally introduced in the Senate by Senator Alben W. Barkley, majority leader. It was passed in the House of Representatives today without a dissenting vote and without any discussion from the floor.
Terming the Nazi atrocities “brutal and indefeasible outrages” the resolution condemns them as “unworthy of any nation or any regime which pretends to be civilized.” It declares that “the dictates of humanity and honorable conduct in war demand that this inexcusable slaughter and mistreatment shall cease.”
