Conference on War-time Problems of Jewish Communities Opens in Newark Today

The war-time problems of Jewish communities in New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, eastern Pennsylvania. Virginia and Washington, D.C., will be discussed at a two-day conference of the Central Atlantic Region of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds opening tomorrow at the Essex House here.

The conference will consist of a series of round-table discussions on the various aspects of Jewish community problems, with delegates from local Jewish federations, welfare funds and community councils participating in the deliberations. “The organizational structure of local Jewish communities must be strengthened and expanded to meet the growing war-time obligations now confronting Jewish communities,” Albert H. Lieberman, chairman of the region, declared today.
