World Jewish Congress Sends Delegate to Central and South America

The World Jewish Congress headquarters today announced that Baruch Zukerman who recently took over the department of Latin American Jewish affairs in the Congress, has left on an extensive tour of Central and South America. “The purpose of this tour is to consult with leaders in the various Jewish communities through which he will pass, concerning the participation of their countries in an extensive plan to obtain havens for European Jews, as well as to insure the cooperation of Latin American Jewry in the consideration of Jewish post-war problems,” the announcement said.

Mr. Zuckerman will visit the Jewish communities in Argentine, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and other Latin American countries. He will contact various government officials in those countries with a view to enlisting their assistance for the Jews of Europe and, particularly, with reference to the granting of asylum to a number of European Jewish refugees.”
