The Synagogue Council of America which has proclaimed a period of mourning and intercession in behalf of the Jews in Nazi-occupied Europe, today suggested to all rabbis of the synagogues throughout the country that they hold two prayers in the course of this coming week.

The first prayer calls for a moment of silence and meditation to be solemnized at every public meeting or group gathering. The second is suggested for home use, in which “penitential fasts” are called for, and the cost of the meals be dedicated to the rescue of the lives of those who can still be saved.
