Articles in the American press assailing anti-Semitic activities in the United States were utilized yesterday at a press conference in the German Foreign Office in Berlin to “prove” that anti-Jewish feelings are on the increase in America and that “the Jews in the United States are not doing their full share in the prosecution of the war.”
Nazi news agencies, reporting the details of the conference, state that officials of the Nazi Foreign Office quoted to the correspondents passages from articles in Time magazine and in New York newspapers allegedly “revealing” that anti-Semitism is influencing many Americans. The larger part of the conference was taken up with “explanations” by Nazi officials as to the motives for the alleged growth of anti-Jewish sentiments in the United States, the reports published here today assert. Some of the officials predicted that anti-Semitism in the Allied countries will help Germany to win the war.
