Interested Jewish organizations today approached the Foreign Office for information as to whether the exchange of Palestinian Jews interned in Germany will stop as a result of the fact that German nationals interned in Palestine refuse to be repatriated to the Reich.
There are still a number of Palestine Jews held in German camps as civil internees. Their exchange for German settlers interned in Palestine was expected to be arranged as were similar exchanges since the outbreak of the war. The decision of the German internees not to leave Palestine may result, however, in making further exchanges difficult, it is feared in Jewish circles here. A statement from the Foreign Office clarifying the matter is expected in the next few days.
