Isaac Ben-Zvi, president of the Jewish National Council, cabled congratulations today to Prime Minister Jan Christian Smuts of South Africa on his reelection by an overwhelming majority.
The message, on behalf of the entire Council, expressed the hope that Field Marshal Smuts will “have the strength and health to continue the fight until victory is achieved in the great cause of freedom, until the liberation of all oppressed people, and until the Jewish nation is re-established in Palestine.”
