In a call to Jewish parents and high school students issued today by the Jewish Education Committee of New York, attention is called to the fact that the study of Hebrew language and literature has made greater progress in those schools than any other foreign language. Hebrew is taught in 13 New York high schools. An official report of the New York Board of Education discloses the fact that the number of students taking Hebrew last term increased by five and a half percent, while Spanish, the other popular foreign language, increased by about one and a half percent. The number of students taking French, German and Latin dropped by eight percent.
