Download PDF for this date

Impressive Chanukah services honoring the heroic Jews of Greece and the other oppressed peoples in that Nazi-occupied country were held today in the Great Ismalia Temple with Chief Rabbi Haim Nahum of Egypt officiating.

Attending the services were Greek Premier Emanuel Tsouderos, members of the Greek Government, representatives of King George of Greece, high-ranking Greek Orthodox churchmen and Allied officers. The Chief Rabbi offered prayers for the speedy liberation of Greece.

Among the worshippers were Jews wearing the uniforms of the fighting forces of a dozen Allied armies and many Jewish refugees from Greece. A troop of Egyptian Jewish boy scouts furnished a guard of honor.
