Spokesmen for the “Pan-Arab Congress of America,” which claims to represent the approximately 300,000 Arabs living in Latin-America, have sent a memorandum to the foreign ministries of all Western Hemisphere countries asking support for the Arab position on Palestine, it was learned here today.
The memorandum was drafted at a meeting here last week of 20 representatives of the Arab communities in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Uruguay and Colombia called to discuss the projected pan-Arab congress in Cairo and intensified political activity by Argentine Zionists. The Arab note, it is understood, makes the following points:
1) The Palestine problem is exclusively an Arab question and must be solved by Arab nations only; 2) Arabs rejects foreign intervention in their affairs; 3) The Arabs have never recognized the project for the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine and reject Zionist demands; 4) Unlimited Jewish immigration would reduce Palestine Arabs to a minority status; 5) Arab groups object to the formation of Jewish defense groups in Palestine, and deny the necessity for any such organizations; and 6) The Pan-Arab Congress of America urges the creation of an independent Arab national government in Palestine and Transjordan.
The Arab “Congress” was formed here in April of 1941 as a result of a meeting of delegates from the Arab communities in the countries mentioned above. Its aims are described as “defense of the rights of Arabs in this continent and throughout the world.”
