Dr. Ernst Knopfmacher, noted journalist who had been connected with the World Jewish Congress since its establishment in Geneva, died here today from a heart attack. He was 56 years old.
Dr. Knopfmacher, together with his wife, arrived in the United States several weeks ago from Mexico, where they represented the World Jewish Congress. He was born in Austria and worked on the editorial staff of German newspapers in Berlin until the Nazis came to power. He then moved to Paris where he established the political archives of the World Jewish Congress, of which his wife was executive secretary. They left Paris after the fall of France.
