Palestine Authorities Hamper Rescue of Jews from Europe, Ben-zvi Complains

Sympathy for the families of the police officers recently killed in the outbreaks in Palestine was expressed today, in behalf of the entire Jewish population, by Isaac Ben-Zvi, president of the Jewish National Council, during a special visit to Chief Secretary John V. Shaw of the Palestine Government.

Mr. Ben Zvi also voiced the anxiety of Palestine Jews over the fact that “meagre action” is being taken by the Palestine Government to facilitate the rescue of Jews from Nazi-held territories. Cumbersome formalities on the part of the Palestine authorities hamper the work of saving Jews from the Nazis, he pointed out. The Chief Secretary promised to transmit Ben-Zvi’s plea to the British Colonial Office in London.
