Describing the severe housing shortage that exists throughout Palestine, Eliezer Kaplan, treasurer of the Jewish Agency, today revealed that the Agency is requesting a Government loan of $16,000,000 to be used to construct new dwellings.

Kaplan told the annual conference of Jewish architects that American and Swedish firms have already approached the Agency with offers to deliver prefabricated houses as soon as hostilities cease. Prefabricated buildings play a large part in Palestine’s post-war housing plans because of the scarcity of building materials, especially lumber, in the country.
