The record sum of $20,600,000 has been spent in six months for Jewish relief and rescue work; jointly by the Joint Distribution Committee, the United Palestine Appeal and the National Refugee Service, it was reported today by the United Jewish Appeal.

During the first six months of 1944, the Joint Distribution Committee appropriated the sum of $10,459,477 for its world-wide relief, rescue and rehabilitation activities, the report said. For the work of refugee settlement, agricultural and industrial development, and war mobilization in Palestine, the agencies in Palestine which receive their American support from the United Palestine Appeal spent the sum of $9,629,000 in the first six months of the Jewish year, from October 1, 1943, to April 1, 1944. The bulk of this amount was contributed through the United Jewish Appeal. In the six months ending yesterday, the National Refugee Service had expenditures totaling approximately $532,000 for migration adjustment, retraining, and other services provided for refugees in the United States, the report said.
