On the fifth anniversary of the outbreak of the war, this all-Jewish city marked the lifting of the last black-out regulations with streets brightly illuminated by flood-lights. The lights were last used in June, 1940, on the night before Italy entered the war.

Police headquarters announced today that “a number of shots were fired last night in the vicinity of the Latrun detention camp and police station. There were no casualties.”
