The Joint Distribution Committee today announced the establishment of a research department under the direction of Prof. Nathan Reich, who is on leave of absence from Hunter College where he was acting chairman of the department of economies.

The newly established office will arrange the records of the 30 years of J.D.C. relief activities and will gather, digest and interpret existing data concerning the current welfare and community needs of Jews in war-torn Europe, Joseph C. Hyman, executive vice-chairman of the J.D.C., said.
