Ninety-five Jewish refugees have arrived here from Lisbon on the Portuguese steamer Nyassa. Thirteen will reside with relatives in the United States, while the others proceeded to Canada.

Including the new arrivals, about 500 refugees have been admitted to Canada in the past six months in accordance with the policy of the Dominion Government to admit refugees for the duration of the war providing Jewish organizations guarantee that they will not become public charges. Such guarantees have been furnished by the United Jewish Refugee and War Relief Agencies.

The present group came from Tangiers, while those admitted previously had been in Spain or Portugal. Nearly all of them are nationals of either Poland, Hungary or Rumania.
