President Roosevelt favors enactment of legislation setting up a Permanent Fair Employment Practice Commission, Malcom Ross, chairman of the present FEPC, told reporters today after a brief visit to the White House.
Meanwhile, Rep. Charles LaFollette of Indiana today introduced a bill calling for a permanent FEPC at the opening session of the 79th Congress. His bill, which is identical with one approved by House and Senate committees last session, would make the FEPC a regular agency of the Government, responsible to the Congress and to the courts, and with full authority to prevent discrimination in employment because of race, color or creed.
