United Jewish Appeal Launches “most Extensive Drive” in History of New York Jewry

The most extensive campaign in the history of the city’s Jewish community was officially launched here today when Monrce Goldwater, chairman of the 1945 drive of the United Jewish Appeal of Greater New York, addressed a meeting at the Hotel Commodere of representative of 350 community, professional and trade groups in the city, giving the go-ahead signal to more than 10,000 volunteer workers.

The 1945 campaign will seek to raise New York’s share of the $75,000,000 needed by the Joint Distribution Committee, the United Palestine Appeal, the National Jewish Welfare Board and the National Refugee Service. The meeting was also addressed by Louis Broido, executive campaign chairman.
