A law barring immigrants from practicing many professions has been promulgated by the Mexican Government, it is revealed in the “Diario Official,” official publication of the government.
The decree is not retroactive, and excepts those who “can prove that they were victims of political persecution in their own country.” It, however, does not mention immigrants who have fled their native lands because of racial or religious persecution.
Under the new law immigrants cannot fill the following positions: Accountant, actuary, architect, bacteriologist, biologist, broker, chemist, dentist, economist, engineer, lawyer, metallurgist, notary public, nurse, pilot, social worker, teacher and veterinary.
