Stating that the only real hope for the Jews of Europe is emigration to Palestine, the Manchester Guardian today urges the Big Three to discuss the Palestine problem at their meeting in Potsdam.

The Jews were the first to suffer from Nazism, the paper says, and seem destined to be the last to suffer. The British Government, it adds, cannot much longer postpone a decision on Palestine. At the same time, the Guardian urges the government to allow Jews liberated from concentration camps to reside temporarily with friends or relatives in England.

The diplomatic correspondent of the Observer, commonting on the dissolution of the Jerusalem municipal council, says that the present conflict between the Jews and the Arabs is a clear indication that the White Paper policy has failed. He lays the failure to Jewish “exclusiveness” and the Arabs’ lack of responsibility.
