A formal propesal for the co-opting of Dr. Abba Hillel Silver and Dr. Stephen S. Wise as full-fledged members of the World Zionist Executive was considered here today by members of the Zionist Actions Committee, the supreme body after the World Zionist Congress, which chooses members of the executive.
The proposal was submitted last night by the delegates representing the General Zionists at the World Zionist Conference, which will adopt tomorrow its final resolutions before adjourning. Dr, Chaim Weizmann, president of the World Zionist movement, will not be present at the closing session of the conference, as he is leaving tonight for a vacation in Scotland.
The political committee of the World Zionist Conference today disoussed the question as to whether the Zionist representations at the San Francisco Conference of the United Nations were well conducted. The members of the executive were able to satisfy the committee on this score. Allegations had been made by the Palestine press that these representations were ineffective.
The political committee also examined the text of the memorandum submitted recently by the World Zionist Executive to the British Government with regard to the demand for the establishment of a Jewish States Members of the committee expressed satisfaction with the text.
The establishment in Jerusalem of a Jewish school for diplomats and civil servants to meet the needs of the projected Jewish State was suggested today at the organizational committee of the World Jewish Conference. The proposal was made by Aron Neuman, Brazilian Zionist, who is the only delegate from South American countries. Delegates from other countries in Latin America did not succeed in obtaining transportation to London.
A report that Arab representatives in London are making an effort to seoure an appointment with Foreign Minister Bevin in order to secure direct information, from him as to the intentions. of the Labor Government with regard to the question of continued Jewish immigration to Palestine is published in Reynold’s News today. The London Sunday paper also reveals that an Arab delegation will shortly call on the Foreign Office and will indicate that there may be trouble in Palestine if the White Paper is rescinded.
