An exchange of correspondence between the late President Roosevelt and President Shukri Kouatly of Syria, on the question of Palestine will be published on Friday, it was reported here today from Damascus.

The Palestine Gazette today published an ordinance exempting from the immigration laws all Jewish members of the Royal Army, Navy and Air Force who enlisted voluntarily while they were interned as “illegal” Palestine immigrants on the island of Lauritius. Under today’s ordinance, their wives and children under the age of 18 are also permitted to enter Palestine without immigration certificates.

Addressing today’s session of the Mizrachi conference which is taking place here, Rabbi Meir Berlin said that there is no other alternative for the executive of the Jewish Agency than to resign. A full session of the Actions Committee, supreme Zioniat body next to the World Zionist Congress, should then be held in Washington to elect a new executive and to establish the headquarters of the Jewish Agency in the U.S. capital, he said.
