The State Department today informed representatives of the press that U.S. consulates will be opened in Germany as soon as possible, though any specific date could not yet be set.
The consulates will be charged, among other duties, with arrangements for the emigration to the United States of qualified displaced persons, a spokesman for the State Department said.
