The principle thatcrimes against humanity be included in the indictment of Nazi war criminals was introduced by the late President Presevelt shortly before his death, it was revealed here today by Col. B. Ecer, Czechoslovak representative on the United Nations War Crimes Commission.
Roosevelt insisted that atrocities committed against individuals because of their race or religion be considered war crimes, even though perpetrated by the Axis Sexions against their own nationals, Col. Ecer told the correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency. Accordingly, he added, Germans will now be punished for crimes agsinst German Jews.
Col. Ecer disclosed that American representatives on the War Crimes Commission are determined that the forthcoming Nuremberg trial of the top Nazi war criminals shall not be dragged out over as long a peried as the Belsen trial. The trial in Nuremberg will adhere to a rigid time schedule, he said.
