The transfer of our atomic knowledge to a properly constituted international control commission under the aegis of the General Assembly and the Security Council of the United Nations was urged in a statement issued today by the Synagogue Council of America, representing all religious bodies of American Jewry.

“The Synagogue Council believes that our era of mutual suspicion and competition in international affairs can and must give way to an epoch of mutual trust and cooperation,” the statement said. “The surrender of our knowledge of atomic energy to the United Nations will in our opinion constitute America’s act of faith in such a new stage and help bring about the one world and the just and durable peace which we have helped to purchase with so many American lives.”
