Jews Opens Office in Germany to Aid Emigration and Repatriation of Displaced Jews

Following consultations with Judge fisen E. Rifkind, who is surveying the problems of displaced Jews as President Truman’s personal representative, Ilija Dijour, representative of the Hias, today opened the first Hias office in the American zone, to assist in the emigration or repatriation of displaced Jews from Germany.

Located in the city of Hoechst, the office will operate under the direction of the UNRRA. American relatives can now send short messages to displaced Jews in the occupied zones in Germany, whether such persons reside in or outside of camps. The messages should be sent in care of the New York office of Hias, which will transmit them to Mr. Dijour, who in turn will forward them to the addresses.
