Lieut. Gen. Sir Alan Cunningham was sworn in yesterday as the seventh High Commissioner for Palestine. Among those attending the traditional ceremonies were Jewish leaders including David Ben Gurion, chairman of the Executive of the Jewish Agency, Isaac Ben Zvi, president of the Jewish National Council, and Chief Rabbis Isaac Herzog and Ben Zion Usiel.
In a brief address Cunningham said: “I have no preconceived ideas whatsoever, and I realize that the problems to be presented are human problems which I shall endeavor to treat humanly.”
