Three well known anti-Semites, who participated in the first anti-Jewish street meeting to be held in New York since the end of the war, were found guilty yesterday of unlawful assembly in Queens Special Sessions Court. They face sentences ranging from six months to three years.
The three, whose meeting was held on Oct. 6, are Ernest Elmhurst, one of the defendants in last year’s sedition trial in Washington, Homer Maertz, a leader of subversive groups in Chicago and Kurt Mortig, who was associated with the German Bund. Among the evidence offered at the trial was a pamphlet entitled “Jewish Ritual Murder,” which was characterized by Judge Henry Curran as one of the “most vicious, venomous and hate-inciting I’ve ever seen.” complainant against the three fascists was Isadore Ginsberg, New York State commander of the Jewish War Veterans.
