Lieut. Gen. Sir Frederick Morgan has asked to be allowed to fly to Washington to place his case before UNRRA Director-General Herbert H. Lehman, it was learned here today. UNRRA authorities are reported to have agreed, and he is expected to leave immediately.
Morgan is understood to feel that public opinion in the United States has become less hostile in the weeks that have elapsed since he told a press conference at Frankfurt that a secret Jewish force was organizing the emigration of Jews from Poland and other parts of Eastern Europe. He will tell Lehman that his remarks were exaggerated in partisan quarters, a report said.
