Five offices of the HIAS have been opened in Germany to assist displaced and refugee Jews with their migration problems, according to a cable received from Ilja Dijour, head of HIAS activities in Germany. The offices are located in Frankfurt, Hoechst, Berlin, Baden-Baden and Munich.

Since direct mail facilities to Germany are not as yet available, HIAS has undertaken to act as a clearing center for messages to Jews in Germany, and 810 such messages from relatives and friends have already been personally delivered. Registration for emigration has begun, with 1,360 persons already registered. Sponsor affidavits from American relatives drawn up with the assistance of HIAS in the United States, and forwarded to Mr. Dijour, have been distributed. The HIAS offices are in the American, French and British zones.
