The 39th biennial convention of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations concluded here today with the adoption of a twelve-point statement of principles supporting the United Nations Organization “as an instrument to outlaw wars, to establish justice and to promote good will;” urging the United States to take the initiative in outlawing the atomic bomb as a weapon of warfare;” advocating the passing of federal fair employment legislation; and suggesting the extension and the intensification of UNRRA activities.

The statement calls for continued condemnation of anti-Semitism, abrogation of the White Paper and support of the $100,000,000 campaign of the United Jewish Appeal. Regarding the plight of the defeated peoples of the Axis nations, the statement declared that Judaism teaches that “atonement characterized by sincere repentance and good heads will be followed by the forgiveness of God and man.”
