In view of the present situation in Palestine, no assurances can be given that there will not be further deportations of Palestine Jews to Eritrea, Arthur Creech-Jones, Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies, said today.

(In Jerusalem today, the Irgun Zvai Leumi, Jewish extremist group, submitted a memorandum to the Anglo-American inquiry committee, in which it warned that it would resist by force any decision unfavorable to the Jews. The Irgun reiterated its demand for a Jewish state on both sides of the Jordan.)

Replying in the House of Commons to a question by Konni Zilliacus, Laborite, Creech-Jones pointed out that the deportations were carried out under the emergency legislations promulgated by the High Commissioner to maintain public safety and order.
