Representatives of the CIO, the AFL, the Women’s Trade Union League and the National Conference of Labor Legionnaires today denounced the Gossett Bill, which would halve immigration for the next ten years.

Testifying before the House Immigration and Naturalization Committee, they opposed any out in immigration quotas until a commission of experts can make a study of the problem of post-war immigration. The labor spokesmen asserted that immigration had no bearing on the unemployment problem, since it “is automatically checked in periods of unemployment, while it rises in periods of prosperity.”
