The Slovak regional government has issued a decree granting Jews, or their heirs, the right to occupy rent-free land confiscated from them by the puppet Slovak regime, pending final settlement of ownership, it was announced here today. The decree applies only to 40 hectares (96 acres), since any holding in excess of that figure is to be nationalized.

Karl Frank, Reich Protector for Bohemia and Moravia, who is being tried here as a war criminal, declared in court that the Theresienstadt ghetto was established on orders of Reinhard Heydrich, his predecessor, who was assassinated by Czech patriots, Frank asserted that the majority of the German people did not know of Gestapo chief Heinrich Himmler’s plan to exterminate the Jews.
