Bulgarian Premier Promises Assistance to Jews; Receives J.D.C. Representative

Premier Kimon Georgiev today promised full Government support for all relief measures to aid Bulgarian Jewry in an interview with Arthur Lishzohn, of the Joint Distribution Committee and a JTA correspondent.

The Premier stated that the majority of the Bulgarian people have always been friendly to the Jews, and cited the successful efforts to prevent the deportation of Jews to Poland. He said that his Government will continue to do all it can to facilitate the rehabilitation of the country’s Jewish population, which was ruined economical by the former pro-Nazi regime.
