Plans have been completed for the British Army to operate Palestine’s strikebound railways, it was understood in Jerusalem tonight. If the strike remains unsettled railway operating companies of the Royal Engineers will begin to move essential freight in a day or two.

The railway men began their strike on Monday in sympathy with telegraph, telephone and postal workers who stopped work on April 9 to press demands for better pay and conditions. Trains abandoned by their crews when the strike began are standing on main and branch lines and at deserted stations.
