Establishment of the Adolph S. Ochs Chair of Jewish History and the Julius Rosenwald Chair of Jewish Social Studies at the Hebrew Union College, was announced here today by Dr. Julian Morganstein, president of the college.

The history chair is named in honor of the late publisher of the New York Times, who was an active supporter of the college and a son-in-law of the late Rabbi Isaac Mayer Wise, founder of the institution. The social studies chair is named in honor of the late Julius Rosenwald, who was “a devoted friend of the college,” the announcement said. Dr. Jacob R. Marcus will occupy the Ochs Chair in Jewish History and Dr. Abraham Grontach will occupy the Rosenwald Chair of Jewish Social Studies.
