Part of an ancient Greek column inscribed “to the god, Apollo” was uncovered at the town of Nablus today during building operations.

The style of lettering dates the column, which was discovered at a depth of 17 feet, as having been created in the second century A.D. It is believed to have stood on one of the colonnaded streets of the Roman town of Neapolis on which the old part of the modern town of Nablus is built.
